Tile Splashback.jpg

The above is a personal example of a tile splashback combining my favourite things: nature and a soft colour palette drawn from Farrow & Ball colour range. Due to the bespoke nature of my work, this is not mass produced and therefore every tile will be unique.

Following a visit to the Ledbury branch of Farrow & Ball and a discussion with the lovely lady who runs it, I was inspired to create this splashback that was on display at the Gallery behind the shop for a few months.

" I have made this bespoke splashback for a stunning kitchen, taking inspiration from the blind at the kitchen window. More intense colours were used, to make it stamp its claim on the room from under a cupboard. the splashback is now very much enjoyed and finishes the room nicely."

Not long after I met multi-talented Mariana I asked her to give some thought to designing and making a splashback for my kitchen hob. She came up with a design which copied the roman blind at the kitchen window to great effect. Her exacting attention to detail resulted in a fabulous finish perfectly taking into account the irregularities of the wall and appliances above and alongside. Thank you Mariana!

" I wanted something to reflect the muted soft blues and greys of this refurbished kitchen, which window looks out onto the Malvern Hills. The beautiful silhouette of the hills came as a theme, on large panels of Driftwood grey glass, matt finish, it links the cupboards painted in Farrow & Ball Castle Green to the range. "

Skilfully translated and executed from the owner’s concept, Mariana has produced this wonderful design depicting an accurate profile of the Malvern Hills. A huge amount of care went into the selection of the type and colour of the glass and the outline of the hills; the result is a subtle and harmonious highlight in our kitchen.
